Meet MJ,  Michele Johnson: A Lifetime in the Field

In a world of narrow specialists, Michele stands apart as a true systems thinker — someone who understands that successful rural land is not built through isolated decisions, but through the careful alignment of land, water, animals, infrastructure, and human stewardship over time.

The Scientist: Deep Roots in Research Michele’s foundation is built on rigorous science. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Management (Class of '97) , where she was a consistent President’s Honor List scholar. Her education was not confined to a classroom; 50% of her coursework was conducted in the salt marshes and swamps of Louisiana.

Aquatic Mastery: Her academic training in Aquaculture and Ichthyology  is backed by real-world experience building everything from koi ponds to commercial prawn ponds.

Ecosystem Logic: From Marine Biology studies in Florida estuaries to Forestry and Dendrology, she understands how water, soil, and vegetation interact.

The Stockman: National-Level Performance Michele doesn't just raise animals; she engineers performance. A Varsity Rodeo competitor in college, she has spent decades showing horses at a national level and raising top-quality stock since 1997.

Nutrition Expert: She ran a commercial feed mill, custom-formulating rations for everything from racehorses to show pigs in collaboration with Kentucky Equine Research.

Health & Genetics: Her degree included advanced training in Animal Breeding , Reproductive Physiology , and Parasitology. She has applied this practically, raising goats since 1998 and producing Florida State Fair-winning show chickens.

The Operator: Precision & Machinery Michele’s eye for detail was trained by heavy iron and high-tech systems.

Surveying Precision: As a top-notch surveyor, she served as the gunman on a 70-mile level run through the Everglades, adhering to a tolerance of 3/1,000ths of an inch.

Industrial Maintenance: She spent 10 years maintaining F-15 depaint robots and software systems, bringing aerospace-level maintenance standards to the farm.

Land Clearing: Growing up on her father’s land-clearing equipment, she learned the "lay of the land" before she could drive. Later, she honed these skills professionally in road construction and site prep.

The Artist: The Finishing Touch Whether it was learning auto body prep and paint on show cars with her father or studying Jewelry Design in college, Michele learned that function must be balanced with form. She applies this "finish work" mentality to her consulting—ensuring a property isn't just productive, but beautiful.

The Mission: From Consultant to Architect For over 20 years, Michele has been the "secret weapon" for friends and family, offering free consulting on everything from animal husbandry to land management. In 2026, she launched Rural Success Architect, LLC to bring this unique fusion of skills to the public. She helps landowners do what she has done for a lifetime: combine the logic of the land with the performance of the animal to build a profitable legacy. At the heart of her work is a deep respect for the land and the animals upon it — because systems built with stewardship in mind are the ones that endure, perform, and pass successfully to the next generation.

If this way of thinking resonates…

If you value systems over shortcuts, stewardship over impulse, and long-term success over trial-and-error, the next step is to see how we work together.
